If upon hearing the word "glaucoma" you're instantly bored and your eyes glaze over but you're still curious about what services we have to offer, then continue reading, this page might be for you.  

First, a little background information.  Originally, we named our business "The Eye Doctor & Optical."  Yes, we even created the LLC with this name and went ahead with it.  Over time though, this name just didn't feel right.  It felt too commercial, too sterile.  Commercial optometry was what I (Dr. Cook) was wanting to get away from.  Not that commercial optometry is bad, but, it did lack that family friendly personal touch that I found so endearing at the office of my childhood optometrist.  You know, the place where you walk in and feel seen and heard like a family member would.

That is why we changed the name to Cook FAMILY Eyecare.  We genuinely want to do our best to make sure everyone feels like family and knows that we are in their corner.  It isn't about meeting quotas, it's about meeting people's needs.

As such, we specialize in primary care optometry.  We screen for any and all eye diseases.  We are heavily invested in the "latest and greatest" equipment to help ensure nothing is missed.  If it is there, we want to find it. If we can treat it we will do just that.  If we feel you would be better off seeing a specialist, we will tell you and refer you to a great one.

As for glasses, I (Dr. Cook, again) have worn glasses since I was in second grade.  I have experienced all of the materials, coatings, brands and have picked, in my opinion, the best there is out there.  I believe in quality and want to offer that to my patients.  If I'm providing a product that someone is going to wear on their face for a year (or many years for some of us) to come and experience their world though it, I am only going to offer the best.  We spend enough time troubleshooting glasses that aren't the best to know what is out there.  That being said, there are situations where less than the best will suffice, and if that is the case for you, we will tell you.  We hope to educate you on your options and let you pick what is best for you.
